Safety features
Having a safe, fun, and engaging time on Tinder is important to us. We work hard to continuously enhance app safety and empower you to take control over your experience:
Safety Center - Users can tap the shield throughout the app to access Tinder’s Safety Center to stay informed about safety features and access resources, guides, and information about how to create safe and positive connections.
Unmatch - Whether it’s not the right fit or you’re just not feeling their vibe, users can always unmatch. When a user unmatches someone, that profile will disappear from their match list and vice versa. Once unmatched, users won’t be able to see or send messages to each other anymore. If needed, you can still report another user you are no longer matched with. Learn how to unmatch.
Block Profile - Users can control who they don’t want to match with by proactively blocking profiles. Blocking a profile ensures that users won’t see each other on Tinder. Blocked users will not be notified they’ve been blocked. Learn how to block a Profile.
Block Contacts - Users who don’t want to see certain people they may know can use the Block Contacts feature to pre-emptively block certain profiles. To block specific contacts, users must opt-in to sharing their contact list with Tinder and select which ones to block. Learn how to block contacts.
Photo Verification - Photo Verification allows users to show potential matches that they are the person in their photos. To get Photo Verified, users must submit a short video selfie which is compared to their profile photos using facial recognition technology. Learn how to become Photo Verified.
Photo Verified Chat - Photo Verified users can set to only receive DMs from other Photo Verified users. If a Profile isn’t already Photo Verified, they will be prompted to become Photo Verified before they can send a message.
Are You Sure and Does This Bother You - If Tinder detects a DM that might not be appropriate, the sender will receive an alert recommending they rethink their message. If the message is sent, the receiver is given the option to flag or report the message.
Contact Exchange Alerts - When messaging someone, if Tinder detects you’re sharing contact information, an alert may appear with important safety information to help you stay safe when meeting in real life.
Traveler Alert - We believe in the inclusivity of all gender identities and sexual orientations, but the unfortunate reality is this: nowhere in the world is without potential risk. Some countries have specific laws that target LGBTQ+ people. In countries where we know of such laws, we proactively alert users of the risks for the LGBTQ+ community and give users the option to hide their profile.
